Carmen started her legal career in 1986 as a prosecutor and was a member of the lawyers’ group of the Association for the Defense of Human Rights in Romania (Helsinki Committee).
Between 1999 and 2002, Carmen worked for the Consulate of the Romanian Embassy in Rome.
Between 2005 and 2013, Carmen was a member of the Romanian National Securities Commission, where she acted as Commissioner, Vice-President, and President. In this capacity, she actively participated in establishing regulatory policies applicable to the capital market entities and operations, adopting measures for their implementation, drafting legislation, regulating, and supervising the capital market. Carmen also took part in regulating commodities markets and derivative financial instruments, as well as their related institutions and operations.
During this period, Carmen attended seminars and courses in the financial field, organized by other international authorities or organizations and participated as the keynote speaker on a series of subjects regarding the capital market field, corporate governance, market abuse and shareholders’ rights.
Carmen obtained a certificate of attendance from the International Institute for Securities Development, a program of comprehensive professional panels and workshops regarding the development and regulation of securities markets, organized by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, in Washington D.C. (16th-26th of April 2012).
After she finished her mandates at the Romanian National Securities Commission, with the experience gained in the capital market field and abroad, having the ability to think critically and solve complex legal puzzles, Carmen returned in the private legal field and joined our team in 2017.
Carmen is also qualified as an investment advisor and investment services and activities agent.
